COMMENTS:
The best bottle of this wine that I've had so far. deep purple in color. Aromas of currant and dark fruit. Flavors of dark fruit, currant, licorice and some mint. Rich smooth body and a long finish. At its peak right now. There is some bottle variation but this was a good one. Excellent!

Sorry to see the last of the 97 George's go. This is still one of the most memorable bottles I have had in the past few years coming from a relatively unknown Santa Cruz producer. Current score is slightly unfair, as this wine was up there with any of the Cali cults in its day.

COMMENTS:
A fabulous wine. Many previous ratings gave higher scores indicating that the 1997 may have peaked. This bottle, however, which was NOT decanted, was superb. The appearance is vibrant and healthy. The nose has develop clear aromas of cocca and chocolate. The sweet boquet transitions well onto the palate of licorice. The mouthful is dry and astringent with nice and round tannins.

COMMENTS:
An incredible wine for the money. This rates up there with the best cabs that I've had. Aromas of cherry, strawberry and plum with a hint of licorice. Flavors of dark fruit and some mint and vanilla. I think ther might be some bottle variation due to a recent tasting note but this wine is at its peak now and has the structure to last a few more years. Too bad I have only one bottle left.

COMMENTS:
The 1997 Cooper-Garrod Cabernet Sauvignon will ruin you for high priced cabs. This $35 cab has a prodigious bouquet and is very well balanced on the palate. The wine produces aromas of spice and dark fruit against a dark purple color. In the mouth, figs, jam, and blackberries balance subtle hints of earth. The wine has a velvety texture that complements its excellence structure. Your will not do better $35/Botttle.

Wonderfully complex wine on this tasting. Some bottle variation, however this bottle was up there with the best of the California cult wines!

COMMENTS:
This has long been one of my favorite Cabs. I've had numerous bottles of this over the last two years and, I have to say on this most recent tasting, it is passing it's peak. The berry and earth are still nicely balanced with a slight trace of pepper, although there is beginning to be a bitter aftertaste. I would say, if you have bottles of this around, its time!
