1999 Hacienda Monasterio - Crianza
(Spain / Castilla y Leon / Ribera del Duero)
RATED: 06/17/2004
COMMENTS: Dark purple. Aroma of black cherry, blueberry, charred cedar, raspberry, blackberry, mint, leaves, cigar box, flowers, leather, herbs. Medium body. Semi-dry. Medium to heavy tannins. Long finish. Very nice one, this...enticing complex aroma, very nice mouthfeel, lasting finish. Still needs a little more time for the tannins to soften a tad, but this is really tasty stuff. Can't wait to try an '01 of this one. Eric Solomon picks a winner again!

1999 Hacienda Monasterio - Crianza
(Spain / Castilla y Leon / Ribera del Duero)
RATED: 06/01/2003
COMMENTS: (not blind): Black purple, fat tears, tints the glass. Dark berries in the nose, fine. Full to medium body, dense but well balanced: Fruit, acidity and tannins. Long velvety aftertaste. Score: 50 + 5 for optic + 14 for bouquet + 18 for taste + 8 for overall = total score of 95.

Rather international style here, but a nice effort with 70% Tempranillo, impressive.
