(single blind): Nice purple, fat tears, tints the glass. Very fine and complex nose, tends towards honey comb. Full to medium body, bit austere tannins, good grip. Finish very long, smoky velvety. Score: 50 + 4 for optic + 14 for bouquet + 18 for taste + 9 for overall = total score of 95.
Had this wine never before - a 100% Syrah CdP, kind of experiment but very impressive. Cailloux made 1995 a 100% Syrah named Boreal - but this had more of an Australian Shiraz while the Royer showed some finesse.
