1995 Alain Brumont - Montus XL
(France / Southwest / Madiran et Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh)
RATED: 03/01/2004
COMMENTS: (not blind): Bright and brilliant purple, very dense tears (and it has only 12.5 % alcohol), tints slightly the glass. Very nice barnyard touch, chocolate, fine toast, fine dark intense fruit (not primary), silky. Medium body, good grip, good acidity, dark silky fruit, powerful but fine tannins - without food a bit on the acidity side. Long aftertaste, silky tannins, fine dark fruit, mouth impregnating. Score: 50 + 5 for optic + 15 for bouquet + 17 for taste + 8 for overall = total score of 95.

XL stands for 40 months in new oak (don't find this wine oaky) "sur lie", 100% Tannat.
