COMMENTS: I have had the 1996 quite a few times but the wine seems have matured a lot more my expectation. It was good but seems to be lacking a bit of substance. It could be going through an awkward phase...

COMMENTS: (not blind): Very dark ruby, tints the glass, fat tears. Dark berries in the nose, velvety, ascending alcohol. Plump body, red and black berries, acidity well masked, velvety tannins. Long velvety aftertaste. Score: 50 + 4 for optic + 14 for bouquet + 18 for taste + 8 for overall = total score of 94.
