1997 Jaboulet - La Chapelle
(France / Rhone / Northern Rhone / Hermitage)
RATED: 08/01/2003
COMMENTS: (not blind): Brilliant ruby, black touch. Slightly mineral nose, dark berries hidden underneath. Medium body, intense dark berries, well balanced. Silky tannins in the finish. Score: 50 + 4 for optic + 13 (14) for bouquet + 17 (18) for taste + 8 for overall = total score of 92 (94).

Retasted after one day in the open bottle (scores in parentheses): Nose more expressive, rotting leaves and vegetables instead of mineral. Body gained some weight, more fruit in the aftertaste, hint of liquorice.
