2001 d'Arenberg Shiraz - The Footbolt

ALCOHOL: 14.5%
RATED: 09/25/2004
COLOR: Red Purple.
AROMA: Sweet. Plum. Dark Fruits.
FLAVOR: Spice. Sweet. Plum. Woody. Dark Fruits.
PROFILE: Sweet. Unbalanced. Medium Body. Moderate Light Tannin. Short Finish.
COMMENTS: A very typical Australian Shiraz: overly sweet and fruity with a spicy finish. Lacking in acidity to keep things in balance. People will love it, however, as long as Parker keeps rating these wines so high.

2001 d'Arenberg Shiraz - The Footbolt
(Australia / South Australia / McLaren Vale)
ALCOHOL: 14.5%
RATED: 06/04/2004
COMMENTS: Dark reddish-purple. Aroma is blackberry, raspberry, black cherry, minty/leafy, graphite, cigar box, flowers, smoke, licorice, etc. Full body. Semi-sweet to semi-dry. Medium tannins. Long finish. Beautiful stuff, and an incredible value...not many wines under $20 I've scored 90+, but this is one of them. Considerable complexity and ample acidity should allow this to cellar well, but it's lovely right this minute.
