2005 Chateau Fourcas-Dupre - 60% Cabernet ; 40% Merlot
(France / Bordeaux / Medoc)
RATED: 03/30/2009
COMMENTS: This blended Bordeaux wine seems to have a dark cherry red colour. It smells soft black fruit flavour, oaky flavour, with a slightly spicy tone.
I detect a certain roundness and mellowness attack. Then it seems to have a harmonious astringency due to the presence of tannins in Cabernet Sauvignon. These characteristics give a wine long in the mouth and well balanced between suppleness and astringency.
It is all what I expected of a very good French wine!

Nose: So fruity... we can smell the fragrance of different black fruits like black current and black berries. We also smell some red fruit, cherry or raspberry. These flavour are balanced with roosted coffee, aromatic herbs, spicy and cloves aroma.

Mouth: In mouth this wine has fruity attack very round with black and red fruit (like cherry). The after taste is spicier and you feel tannin at the end.

COMMENTS: In the eyes, this wine is unusual because of its brightness and it's cherry red colour. Tannins are very present, which s typical of a cabernet Sauvignon. However, this wine is round, lively and well structured and very coated : astringency due to tannins is quite soft.
In mouth, a Chateau Fourcas Dupre has a full character and remarkable rusty and spicy flavors like pepper, blackcurrent, vanilla, roasted coffee beans and cloves.
A small inconvenient could be its light acidity, but it's not very strong. Furthermore, best amators of wine could be able to recognize a typical oaky flavor.

COMMENTS: when you smell this dark cherry red colored wine, you can feel spicy aromas and a touch of pepper which desapear in favor of fruity aroma.
tasting this wine is a pleasure.Indeed, you feel in mouth, the supple soft attack completed by the full bodied evolution.
This tasting has a well structured finish where you can feel tannins.

The touch of strongness well balanced with the fruitiness permits to this wine to be eaten with some red meat for example.

COMMENTS: A marvellous red wine with an unusual dark deep cherry colour!!!
The nose shows a complex blending of fragrances. We smell a very expressive oaky barrel, roasted coffee bean flavors with a touch of black fruit's jam smell.
When you taste it you first identify the typical astringency of a Cabernet Sauvignon tannins. But because of its round soft attack, its full bodied evolution, its lenght in mouth and its well structured tannic finish, i'd like to say that this Chateau Fourcas is very well balanced and delightfull wine!

COMMENTS: With its deep dark cherry red colour, this wine seems very nice.
In the nose, you firstly smell oaky flavors and black fruits fragrances. But then, you can identify some rusted coffee bean smell and a background of spicy flavor.
In the mouth, you can recognize Cabernet Sauvignon tanins, which give this wine a good astringency. But I would say that this wine is very well balanced, thanks to its liveliness and its roundness.
As a conclusion, this long in the mouth and easy to drink wine will delight your full mouth.
