PROFILE: Balanced. Full Bodied Body. Moderate Heavy Tannin. Medium Finish.
COMMENTS: I enjoyed Duckhorn's Estate Grown Cab a bit more than the Monitor Ledge (ML). ML, however, remains an excellent Napa Valley Cab. Both in the nose and on the palate I got lots of smoke with a bit of tobbacco. On the palate I discerned mild flavors of oak and dark fruit. The wine is well balanced, but not particularly complex. At
$88/bottle, I think it is over priced. ML drinks well for $50.

COMMENTS: I did not particularly care for the Monitor Ledge bottling. Its appearance was slightly brown-red, making it seem unlively. The flavors and aromas were also rather mellow with Merlot-like earthy and burnt characteristics. A rather dull Napa Cab.
