1998 Chapoutier - Les Bescasses
(France / Rhone / Northern Rhone / Cote-Rotie)
RATED: 05/01/2002
COMMENTS: Clear purple, fat tears. Smoky lovage and soy sauce in the nose. Full body despite more than noticeable acidity, massive dark fruit. Some acidity in the finish, massive tannins, warm feeling - character changes permanent, may be even some bottle defect here?

Score: 50 + 4 for optic + 12 for bouquet + 16 for taste + 7 for overall = total score of 89?

Northern Rhone tasting 20020519. Single blind. Not decanted. Riedel Syrah glasses.
