1999 Chateau de Beaucastel
(France / Rhone / Southern Rhone / Chateauneuf du Pape)
RATED: 07/01/2003
COMMENTS: (not blind): Medium purple, clear, dense tears tint the glass. Dark fruit in the nose, rather decent. Full to medium body, some dark fruit but not pushy, fine acidity and tannins. Nice aftertaste. Score: 50 + 4 for otpic + 13 for bouquet + 18 for taste + 8 for overall = total score of 93.

Did not find this wine to be monolithic as one would expect but startling nice to drink for a young Beaucastel.
