COMMENTS: Very brilliant medium ruby, medium tears. Sweet wood in the nose, smooth and soft, bit perfumed. Medium body, beautiful dark fruit, sappy, decent acidity very well balanced with tannins. Long and very fine smoky finish. Very attractive.

Score: 50 + 4 for optic + 14 for bouquet + 18 for taste + 8 for overall = total score of 94.

Pegau vertical tasting Graz 20040927. Single blind. Decanted shortly before tasting. Wine Star Chardonnay glass similar to ISO standard tasting glass. Wine #3 in flight #2. Sequence predefined by the organiser of the tasting, not by chance.

COMMENTS: (not blind): Black ruby, fat tears, brilliant. Restrained nose, dark fruit, slightly alcoholic. Plump body, massive tannins spine, dark fruit. Velvety alcoholic finish. Score: 50 + 5 for optic + 13 for bouquet + 17 for taste + 8 for overall = total score of 93.

Light lunch in the restaurant Verger des Papes directly under the ruin of Chateaufneuf du Pape. Not decanted. Bit too warm. Simple but fair glasses
