Sampled 7/3/04. The unfiltered nature of the wine is evident in the glass - which is more so than many unfiltered wines I've seen. Because the acids are so well balanced, it is hard to tell that this wine is unfined as well. The acid, fruit (not too much citrus), and sugar are put together in a very pleasing way, so that even those concerned about the unclear color are put at ease. Although a very well made and tasty wine, it lacks any particularly unique flavors or flavor combinations and therefore gets a point taken from its score. Because there are so many wonderful California Chards in the 91 to 93 point range that are similar to this wine, that unless the price is right on this bottle I wouldn't bother. On the other hand, sampling a horizontal of the different Martinelli Chards is always worth the investment.
