2001 Moccagatta
(Italy / Northwest / Piedmont / Barbera d'Alba)
RATED: 06/13/2004
COMMENTS: Dark reddish-purple. Aroma of cherry, red currant, cranberry, blueberry, flowers, oak, anise, attic/cobwebs, nutmeg, and earth. Semi-dry to dry. Medium body. Medium to long finish. Medium tannins. A very tasty medium body red, nothing spectacular but a very solid and very enjoyable wine that meets or exceeds its price limitation. A bit young perhaps, and should last quite some time, but drinks very well right now...just give it some breathing time (1-2 hours).
