1989 Chateau de Beaucastel
(France / Rhone / Southern Rhone / Chateauneuf du Pape)
RATED: 03/01/2004
COMMENTS: (not blind): Brilliant light ruby, massive tears, strong sediment. Red fruit in the nose, dense like a solid concrete wall (direct from the bottle: Starting with an intense CdP stink). Full to medium body, dense cherry note, very well balanced. Very long finish, finest smoky tannins. Score: 50 + 4 for optic + 14 for bouquet + 18 for taste + 8 for overall = total score of 94.
