COMMENTS: I was tasted on about 40 wines when we aquired the Clicquot biz out at Pacific. That tasting included: Dom Perignon, M & C Rose, Nectar; Clicquot NV, Vintage '99, '99 Rose, Grand Dame '96; Krug Grand Cuvee, Krug Vintage Rose, and the Clos Du Mensil '90.

COMMENTS: Krug recently changed their label (it is all gold now, without the red accents), but what's inside the bottle is as good as ever. Make sure you don't drink the Krug to cold, near room temp will draw out more complexity.

AROMA: Yeast. Citrus. Woody.
FLAVOR: Yeast. Citrus.
PROFILE: Crisp Acidity. Complex. Effervescent Mouthfeel. Rich Body. Long Finish.
COMMENTS: This is my third time tasting Krug, the second time from a 750mL bottle. Again, it tastes a bit younger than the 375 mL bottle and has much more of tart fruitiness. There was a bit more woody flavor than I remembered, but overall, still fantastic. Nice balance and great complexity. By far my favorite champagne.

COLOR: Amber.
AROMA: Butter. Dairy. Lime. Lemon. Citrus. Hazelnut. Nutty. Macadamia nuts : Beer.
FLAVOR: Cream. Butter.
PROFILE: Balanced. Smooth Mouthfeel. Rich Body. Long Finish.
COMMENTS: Krug is the king of champange. Their non-vintage (NV) champange is extraordinary. The appearance is a breath-taking amber with extremely tight and consistent bubbles. The nose is nutty and smells like a thick draft ale. The boquet mixes hazelnuts and macadamia nuts. On the front palate, the wine starts with melted butter and beer. Toward the middle tongue, the beer and butter evolve into cream. After about 20 seconds on the middle of the tongue, hints of citrus fruit become detactable. As the wine reaches the back palate, a full basket of citrus fruit dominates the flavor. The wine has the longest finish of any wine I have every tasted. All the different tastes from all regions of the tongue remain present on the palate for at over 120 seconds!! The back palate finishes with crisp lemon and lime. Krug is not to be drunk, but rather, it is to be relished and adored.

Be careful, Krug may ruin you for other champagne.

AROMA: Yeast. Citrus. Nutty. Woody.
FLAVOR: Yeast. Citrus. Nutty.
PROFILE: Crisp Acidity. Complex. Effervescent Mouthfeel. Rich Body. Long Finish.
COMMENTS: Krug is still by far my favorite champagne. This bottle was absolutely exquisite, with tons of creamy nuttiness to balance out a tart citrus finish. The aroma is hardly contained by the glass, and bursts with yeast and nuttiness. Interestingly, I found this 750mL to be less carmelized and more fruity than a recent 375 mL from this producer. I would receommend drinking from the half bottle if that aged, toffee flavor is what you prefer. The wine from a 750mL is different but equally spectacular.

PROFILE: Tart. Crisp Acidity. Complex. Effervescent Mouthfeel. Rich Body. Long Finish.
COMMENTS: Ligther than a previous bottle of Krug, this is more youthful and expressive. The nose and flavors are crisp, nutty, and yeasty. Once again I found a distinct beer flavor that I associate with Krug. An impregnating aftertaste that lasts for several minutes and is tart on the back of the palate. Although this is a fabulous bottle of wine, I suggest giving the NV Krug some more time in the cellar. It will develop a deeper color, with richer toffee flavors.

AROMA: Nutty.
FLAVOR: Toast. Bread. Coffee.

COMMENTS: One of the greatest champagnes I've ever tasted, this bottle tasted incredibly toasty, with a lot of nutty, coffee flavor. The color is gorgeous, with the dark hue letting you know there's a lot of complexity. It tastes old in a good way.

FLAVOR: Woody. Toast. Bread. Yeast. Coffee. Beer.
PROFILE: Balanced. Complex. Viscous Mouthfeel. Rich Full Bodied Body. Long Finish.
COMMENTS: The first and most striking aspect of this wine is it's color: a dark amber. Perhaps that is influencing the flavors I get from it, but I think it tastes like beer. This is of course in addition to its multi-dimensional flavors of coffee, toast, bread, yeast and wood. In the nose you can even pick these out distinctly. The finish on this wine will have you hoarding it all to yourself.
