I had high hopes for this producer but neither the pinot noir nor the syrah lived up to the expectation. It was unbalanced and too manipulated.

COMMENTS:
I agree with the other raters of this wine. It wasn't very enjoyable. The wine was harsh and angular, high alcohol and abrupt. The wine feels too articitial. In burgundy standard, it is a village wine quality selling at grand cru price. Shame on the producer!

COMMENTS:
My first Mouton, yes I was lucky to had this wine when I was 12. Don't remember much about the wine but the label that I vividly remembered. Tasted it again in 1999, I was a bit disappointed by the standard of Mouton. Not much to offer here, just a tired uninteresting wine.

COMMENTS:
High hopes and expectation, but the wine failed to excite. Very average quality. This wine has the typical initial Wow in so many California cab, it excite you in the first glass but failed to continue to evolve into a more complex and interesting wine. I have tried some other vintages of DA's wine including the 1147, but for some reason this bottle of 1999 is not up to par.

1994 Horizontal tasting at Central Park Bistro Notes: Good acidity and attack, flavors fans out in layers but a bit unbalance (probably due to poor storage?) This wine appears to be more matured than the others. Finish with a hint of Cognac and aged cheese.

Surprising good for a so-so vintage. It almost developed a burgundian nose which I like a lot. It was a bit thin and hollow in the mid palate but drinking very well and very charming.

One of the bottle was definately over the hill. This one surprisingly still a bit tight, the tannins seemed to be dominating the overall impression. About 1 hour later, the wine has slowly opened up and revealed some very nice mature bottle bouquet. The wine was getting better and better but it was also finished by then.
