Wow! The 2001 Neal sets THE benchmark for all new Napa wineries. The color of this wine is a deep, reddish-purple. With sufficient decanting (try 4 hrs), perfumes of chocolate, cassis and blackberry leap from the glass. On the palate, the wine teases with opulent dark fruits, tobacco and more chocolate. These flavors eventually give way to a multi-dimensional and harmoniously tannic backbone. Rich, layered and complex this wine is moist and chewy. The finish goes on and on.... A must buy.
