NV Krug - Grand Cuvee
($140)
(France / Champagne )

Color: Amber.
Aroma: Yeast. Toast. Nutty.
Flavor: Cream. Citrus. Nutty. Beer.
Profile: Tart. Crisp Acidity. Complex. Effervescent Mouthfeel. Rich Body. Long Finish.
Ligther than a previous bottle of Krug, this is more youthful and expressive. The nose and flavors are crisp, nutty, and yeasty. Once again I found a distinct beer flavor that I associate with Krug. An impregnating aftertaste that lasts for several minutes and is tart on the back of the palate. Although this is a fabulous bottle of wine, I suggest giving the NV Krug some more time in the cellar. It will develop a deeper color, with richer toffee flavors.
