1989 Chateau Lynch-Bages
(France / Bordeaux / Pauillac )

This was Wine Spectator's wine of the year in 1990 (or maybe 1991). It's easy to see why.... The 1989 Lynch Bages is drinking beautifully now but still has 20 years ahead of it. After decanting for two hours aromas of asphalt, chocolate and bing cherry soared from the glass. Well integrated flavors of tobacco, licorice, red raspberry, cocoa and cedar are well integrated over silky tannins. Just pour it and look at the dark, almost black ruby color. That will give you an idea of what to expect.
