1959 Chateau Palmer
(France / Bordeaux / Margaux )

Purchased from the original buyer. I don't know of any existing ratings for this wine but there should be. It's got to be one of the top five Palmers made in the last 100 years. After decanting for an hour, the wine still had a dark brick color with pink eraser coloring around the edges. Aromas of cola, cassis and chocolate covered cherries drifted out of the glass. The wine showed an array of concentrated sweet black fruit, vanilla and spice over an opulent velvety frame. It may be at its peak or possibly starting to head downhill but it was a very memorable experience.
