1982 Chateau Leoville Las Cases (France / Bordeaux / St-Julien )   Reviewed by: mxpbuy Rated: 99 pts   Sampled 2/14/82. I've had this excellent 2nd Growth wine at least once in each of the past four years and it has been wonderfully consistent. Spice with silky Merlot washing through and around the fruity Cab Franc, both of which offset and balance the powerful Cab Sauv. This wine is elegant and big at the same time. I was never convinced it was a 100 point wine, but I could never give it a 98 point rating either. This time, wine only took about 15 to 20 minutes to open up which is about 30 minutes less than it took 4 years ago, but it did not drop off at any point during the dinner. At this rate, the wine should be nearing it's peak in about 4 to 6 years.
