2001 Dynamite Cabernet Sauvignon
($11)
(USA / California / North Coast )
Reviewed by:

Aroma: Smoky. Oak.
Flavor: Vanilla. Oak. Plum. Raisin. Jam.
Profile: Balanced. Smooth Mouthfeel. Rich Body. Light Tannin. Medium Finish.
Not an overly complex wine, but this is positively drinkable. It has all the components of a classic cabernet, with the dark fruit tones and smooth balance. Tannins are particularly light - perhaps a sign that it isn't really the kind of wine that will improve much with age. It is certainly very oaky (you can sense the sweeter, stronger (american oak) and has vanilla overtones as well. I like it. And it's cheap.
