2000 d'Arenberg Mourvedre - The Twenty Eight Road
($25)

Aroma of black cherry, red currant, raspberry, earth, spice box, oak, leather, camphor, hint of raw meat. Medium to full body, strong tannins, semi-dry, medium length. A bit dry for my tastes, and still quite tannic, but the nose is unique and enticing with a good balance of fruit and primal characters. I think I'll leave my last bottle in the cellar for another two or three years, though.
