Astringent Mouthfeel. Rich Body. Heavy Tannin. Long Finish.   Clos Mogador Manyetes 2005 (Priorat) This is a Carinena (70%) - Garnacha (30%) wine. It is bold, yet still closed. Rod told us that Barbier recommends his wines, esp. the Mogadors to be opened at least 5 hours before drinking. This is true as I had a similar experience with the Mogador. Where it opened up way after. But once it did, it was great. As for the Manyetes, even the Vinturi couldn't bring out the full character of the wine. Still, it showed potential. The mineral characters associated with Priorat's soil was evident. The wine has notes of cherry and jam, very good and intense nose. Very fruity with some spiciness. Complex and well balanced. Tannins are very pronounced and flavorful, you can really chew into it. Has a very good finish. Sadly, we didn't have 5 hours to wait for the wine to open up that day.
