2006 Domaine du Val des Rois - Valreas - Opimian ($30) (France / Rhone / Southern Rhone / Cotes du Rhone Villages )   Reviewed by: SIL Rated: 92 pts   Made from 85-year-old vines. The nose shows berry fruits, liquorice, and a fine herbal aroma. It's round and soft on the palate, medium to full bodied with layers of deep red and blue fruits mingling with gentle spicy notes, interesting and complex. The acidity is balanced, and the tannins are soft but clearly present giving firmness to the fruit. The fruit, herbs and spice notes carry through to the finish where the ripe tannins are more evident.
