2007 Main Divide Pinot Noir

The nose shows aromas of cherry and earth. The palate expresses cherry and raspberry fruits, dry earth, forest floor, barnyard, tar, panfried mushrooms and black olives. Round in the mouth, the wine's acidity is well integrated with the fruit and the tannins are hardly perceptible. There is a little too much 'stewed fruit' flavor for my taste, and the wine lacks focus at this early stage. A second bottle was opened and drunk over an entire week and the wine never faded. Happily, the fruit settled down and the wine gained additional complexity and focus. Another year or two in the bottle will do this wine some good.
