2006 Duckhorn Merlot (USA / California / Napa )   Reviewed by: aapalileo Rated: 84 pts   Ruby, with hints of purple, with very thick & sticky legs that. Aromas of bell pepper and other green veggies, licorice, varnish, cedar, cola and plum. However, this wine was very hot, both on the nose and on the palate. You really had to pierce through the alcohol to smell and taste the essence of the wine. On the palate, it was very short; what lingers is the alcohol, streaking through the throat.Very firm and austere, juicy, albeit off in structure.
