| COMMENTS: |
Very light ruby, nice tears, floating sediment. Very CdP typical nose, slight barnyard with some rotting vegetables, lots of sweet red and dark berries. Medium body, well balanced, nice red fruit, fine acidity, slightly bitter, tannins may be a bit dry - echo of sweet sour fruit drops. Finish long, persistent tannins. As stated before: Nice wine from a not so great vintage. Score: 50 + 3 for otpic + 14 for bouquet + 17 for taste + 7 for overall = total score of 91.
Not blind. Dubious "household" wine glasses. Nice to drink even without food.

Great expectation, great desaster: Light but clearly TCA taint in the nose. In taste not this prominet, even not here, but a really odd sweetness. Bottle problem, no score. Only one more bottle to go. Not blind. Decanted one hour. Riedel Syrah glasses. Side by side with the 1989 vintage.

1977 Heitz, Bella Oaks, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa, California, USA (double blind, from memory): Light garnet, bit brick, many but thin tears, clear. Lovage, coriander, soy sauce in the nose. Slim body, very ripe, lost in acidity. Finish rather short.
Score: 50 + 3 for optic + 14 for bouquet + 15 for taste + 5 for overall = total score of 87.
My guess was a rather old Bordeaux like Malescot St. Exupery 1979.

Very light garnet, hint of red bricks, fat tears. Classical PN-nose, red fruit, slight stink. Medium body, some red fruit acidity, some sweet caramel, bitter tannins in the background. Long and velvety aftertaste. Score: 50 + 2 for optics + 13 for bouquet + 16 for taste + 7 for overall = total of 88 points.
Very good to briskly seared fois gras, but amazingly also to Jansson's Frestelse. No big deal here but I like the style and this is good enough to have a look at other wines of Confuron-Cotetidot. Critics seem to shun this domain (it may very well be that JCC makes funny faces if he sees a professional taster) but his wines are OK in my opinion.

| COMMENTS: |
(single blind): Dark ruby, clear, dense, tints slightly the glass. Bouquet rather decent, bit smoky. Medium to full body, heavy but soft tannins, somewhat flat and broad due to missing acidity. Aftertaste heavily oaked. Score: 50 + 4 for optic + 13 for bouquet + 17 for taste + 7 for overall = total score of 91.
Some days ago I received delivery of the first of my two Bordeaux 2000 subscriptions and I decided to pop a bottle today to check the hype. I made a small blind tasting with the Leoville Barton and an Austrian red named "In Signo Leonis", an international style cuvee vintage 2000 from a producer named Bayer as second wine.
