Really good bouquet. In the mouth, presented flavors of olive oil, cigar, espresso. The tannins were very light, subdued; its presence meaning it can still age some more. The body was very smooth and elegant. Good wine.

Decanted for almost 5 hours, yet still tasted closed. The nose is complex, with notes of meat, smoke, flowers, spice, dried fruits. Yet the taste is somewhat unbalanced still, with coffee, spice and earthy tastes trying to break free from the hard tannins and the acidity. Very austere. Flavors are very extracted. I think this wine is good, but should get better in 3 years or more.

Really good nose. Very fragrant, but not in the perfume sense. Some cedar, tobacco, leather, coffee, some faint taste of olive oil. Very elegant mouth-feel. Has a good faint sweetness to it. Complex. Drinking well now, I think it's at its peak.

| COMMENTS: |
Really good wine. Very atypical Merlot as it does not exhibit the "normal" stereotypical Merlot qualities (supple, fruitcake, etc). Instead, this wine presents dried fruits (ie dried currants). Some berries are detected as well. There are hints of flowers and spice. Some earthiness. A very elegant wine.

Very good, although a litle overpowering Chardonnay. Very modern style, with pronounced oak-associated flavors (ie popcorn, butter, etc). Very round and creamy. With a touch of saltiness at the end. Similar to the Rene Barbier Chardonnay Seleccion.

Deep nose, meat juice, smoke. Great acidity. Very complex. Barnyard smell and flavor (for lack of a better term, like horse crap). I know wine described that way would be a turn off, but man, was this a great wine. Perfectly paired with lamb at Je Suis Gourmand. This wine just kept evolving.

| COMMENTS: |
Very good, evolving nose. Started with candy, licorice, iodine / rust and some spiciness to it. Flavors of dark, deep red fruits (berry), with a tinge of deep cherry. Evolved to espresso, dried flowers. Very elegant structure, with a smooth entry and a non-overpowering but deep and long finish. Very soft velvety tannins. A great elegant wine. It just kept evolving, that after we finished the bottle, I found myself still sniffing the aromas left from the bottle (making me look like a coke addict). It's amusing that I had this a day after the Pegau. If the Pegau was a musky brute force, this was a perfumed sophisticated lady... :?

Good Rioja reserva. Reminiscent of Beronia Gran Reserva. Has subtle oak characteristics, but not obtrusive. Tobacco leaf, cigar-box, cedar flavors permeate, enveloping the dark red fruits that form the wine's core. The nose is creamy, smoky with a hint of mint.

Really good. Fragrant, raspberry notes. On the palate, it had a focused core of dark fruits, with a hint of coffee. A wine that was, for lack of a better description, cool in the mouth. It had some light tannins, rendering some nice, soft chewiness to it. A very "limber" wine that was lively on the palate. Very good wine.

This rose is made of 50% Mourvedre, while the remaining 50% is made of Cinsault, Grenache and Carignan.
Pink, light orange color. Notes of candy, medicine, strawberry. This paired well with the shrimp & corn trio, particularly the croquetta (Sala). The nose had an interesting faint dark chocolate note. Very round and supple and full in the mouth. A really good rose.

Purchased at Bacchus (the exact price I forgot, under P2k for sure). Sangiovese & Cab Sauv. Dark red with orange rim (I only had a lamp on, as such it was difficult to assess the color). Upon pouring, the nose was good already. Aromas of smoke, leather, tobacco, and damp leaves. As it evolved, it presented a soft meatiness and a very pleasant lavender. In the mouth, most of the aromas, esp. the lavender could be tasted, with hints of dark cherry and stone. Although it started hard, it eventually mellowed presenting a good interplay of firmness and silky tannins. The finish was long and lingering, tapering off ever so slowly. Drinking very well now, but should still get better. A great value for money wine.

A very good wine, with notes of spice and damp leaves, berries and cherry. In the mouth, this wine presented a good interplay of softness, finesse as expressed by flowers, raisins, espresso and a tinge of plum and an earthiness characterized by mushrooms, damp dried leaves and very faint pepper. Inspired by my conversation with Keiichi on films, this wine instantly reminded me of a femme fatale, particularly Barbara Stanwyck in Billy Wilder's Double Indemnity. This, like Stanwyck's character, was a wine that would seduce you with its charm and astound you with its spunk. (A mix of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc.)

What a great nose this wine had. The fruit was still there, but mostly faint dried currants and flowers. The tannins were very soft, virtually almost non-existent, giving way to more ethereal maturation characters. The wine was mostly pure tertiary flavors, with truffles, earth, dust, leather, mushrooms, cedar and tobacco leaves. Very complex. Lean and focused. A wine so gentle on the palate. A great wine! Jo said this was a very elegant wine. I couldn't agree more. This is the oldest wine we've both had thus far.

Upon cutting the wine's capsule, a bad sight greeted me. The cork was tainted with wine, and upon contact with the corkscrew, the cork crumbled. I had to push the cork in. The wine was surprisingly not fully ruined. Some hints of of oxidation was apparent. Still, I detected aromas of leather, and dark fruits. After an hour or so, it smelled of iodine. On the palate, licorice, leather, and rust. However, the wine was very short, the flavors fleeting. The structure was disjointed. After another hour or so, I smelled and tasted cherries. I could only wonder how this wine would have been if it was pristine.
