| COMMENTS: |
(single blind): Brilliant ruby, fat tears. Very fine CdP-nose. Kirsch in taste, clearly Rayas, fine impregnating. Score: 50 + 4 for optic + 14 for bouquet + 18 for taste + 8 for overall = total score of 94.
It is a bit embarrassing to mistake a Chianti for Rayas but I have to live with it. I had this wine in a single blind tasting with other vintage 1999 wines (most of them never tasted before) from different regions, one of them Rayas and I was rather sure this was it. But anyway - this means that Georgio Primo 1999 is a top wine.

Found this wine until now always rather green but now it has evolved beautifully.

(not blind): Medium ruby, nice tears, small bubbles in the rim. Cool moss, cooking spices, roasted coffe beans, red pepper. Rather slim body, prominent fruity acidity, seems a bit thin therefore, fine tannin structure. Finish fruity acidity, long, some velvety tannins in the end. Very good wine to your meal. Nice ripe Blaufrankisch. Score: 50 + 4 for optic + 13 for bouquet + 16 for taste + 6 for overall = total score of 89.
Dinner in a nice restaurant. Decanted shortly before drinking, Riedel Syrah glasses.

Full to medium body, some red fruit, low acidity, sweet alcohol. Nice lingering finish. Score = 50 + 3 for otpic + 15 for bouquet + 17 for taste + 7 for overall = total score of 92.
Very good with almonds and hazelnuts. I retasted this wine after one day in the open bottle and it showed a slight cork - this was the slowest cork ever I experienced until now.

| COMMENTS: |
(not blind): Ruby with violet tone, bit dusty yet clear, high viscosity. Nose very young, yeast, coriander, dark fruit behind. Medium body, some yeast, intense dark fruit, good acidity, young. Velvety finish. Score: 50 + 3 for optic + 12 for bouquet + 16 for taste + 7 for overall = total score of 88.
This wine is still very young but I see some potential up to a score of maybe 91. I admit a small problem with young Cornas here, because I have never been very impressed with these wines and don't like them very much. The description from Parker as "black" wines, very tannic, vin de guarde etc. seems a bit strange to me. But Cornas is maybe less attractive when young and actually gets better after 8-10 years in the cellar - this is at least my experience.

Medium to slim firm body, some rather fine red fruit, good acidity, fine tannins. Very long aftertaste, soft but powerful tannins, not exactly mouth impregnating but very near. Score: 50 + 4 for optic + 14 for bouquet + 19 for taste + 8 for overall = total score of 95.

It seems a little odd to drink a Merlot/CS Cuvee from Tuscany and to like it, but this is a nice wine. Typicity is zero.

Made some fish for dinner today and looked for a white wine in the fridge (although I don't usually care for a white even to fish) and found this half full bottle I tasted some weeks ago. Nice surprise - no sign of oxidation at all.

Fine velvety aftertaste. Score: 50 + 4 for optic + 14 for bouquet + 17 for taste + 8 for overall = total score of 93.
Had some bottles of this wine in the wine cooler as intermediate storage and my wife opened one in my absence. I am tasting through the 1999 vintage this year anyway so no problem with this. Like this wine very much because this is for me a typical Barolo without primary fruit and some mineralic touch - contrary to many 1998 Barolos.

Aftertaste nearly not existing. Score: 50 + 3 for optic + 13 for bouquet + 14 for taste + 4 for overall = total score of 84.
Now this is what I would call a simple wine but with a nice bouquet. Without food or at least some almonds or nuts nearly not to drink - but this is what wine is basically made for: Beverage accompanying ood.
