ALCOHOL: 14.8%

COLOR: Ruby.
AROMA: Pepper.
FLAVOR: Light Fruits. Vanilla. Raspberry. Clove. Pepper.
PROFILE: Crisp Acidity. Balanced. Viscous Mouthfeel. Medium Body. Moderate Tannin. Long Finish.
COMMENTS: We stumbled upon this little producer in Dec 04. The winemaker greeted us and poured his Zins and discussed them with us. For under $20, this RRV Zin was it! We are constantly on the look out for "great" wines under the $20 range, and this was fantastic! Winemaker Randy was fervent about making his wines out in the vineyard and focusing his emphasis on the fruit.

PROFILE: Balanced. Smooth Viscous Mouthfeel. Rich Voluminous Extracted Body. Heavy Tannin. Long Finish.
COMMENTS: Fanucchi should be a cult wine! @ $50 it is a bargain because this knocks the socks off any of the big Zins from the best of the Big R's to Turly - I've tried them all & this one belongs on the Top. It is balanced & complex. It is very good now & improves with air. If you can leave some in the bottle for a few days it gets even better. Great now & will age 5 to 10 easily!

1999 Abbadia Ardenga
(Italy / Central / Tuscany / Brunello di Montalcino)
ALCOHOL: 14.0%
RATED: 12/19/2004
COLOR: Tile Red.
AROMA: Smoky.
FLAVOR: Oak. Cherry. Strawberry. Tobacco. Chalky.
PROFILE: Sweet. Balanced. Smooth Astringent Mouthfeel. Medium Body. Heavy Tannin. Medium Finish.
COMMENTS: The strong tannins of this Brunello presented a thinner wine than expected. It contained a well-balanced start but finished off a little too astringent for my taste. After an hour of talking and drinking it did began to open up and provided a well-balanced flavor of fruit and acidity. Would present much better if decanted (that's my fault). I'd give it a good 2-3 years before opening again.

1997 Castello di Camigliano - Riserva
(Italy / Central / Tuscany / Brunello di Montalcino)
ALCOHOL: 13.0%

AROMA: Blueberry.
FLAVOR: Tobacco. Blueberry. Sweet. Fig. Jam. Spice.
PROFILE: Tart. Balanced. Complex. Viscous Mouthfeel. Voluminous Body. Heavy Tannin. Long Finish.
COMMENTS: This wine was my favorite of the night. The great berry nose led to an extremely well-balanced tannic, dry mouthfeel with hints of sweet tobacco, and onto a long finish. Great legs on this wine as it mellows in your glass. You get a feel for the superb vintage of '97 Tuscans even with these middle-tier wines. Double decanted an hour before drinking, not too much sediment. I'd recommend to drink now or within the next 1-3 years, before this Riserva has a chance to thin out. COMMENTS: 60/40 Merlot - Cab Sav. blend which provides a good value for the every day drinker. Everything about this wine was right in the middle of the road. Fruit won't get much better with age but did provide an enjoyable balance for a young wine from an upcoming Calfornia region

2007 Concha y Toro Cabernet Sauvignon - Casillero del Diablo
(Chile / Valle Central)
ALCOHOL: 13.0%
RATED: 03/10/2009
COMMENTS: EYE
This bright wine has a rich cherry red colour.

NOSE
When you don't swirl it, it smells like mushroom, black fruits, spice. It has a harmonious balance between black pepper and blackcurrant. It is not a very complex smell but very well balanced and attractive.
If you swirl the glass, the wine smells like green pepper and acidity. This smell is a bit unattractive.

MOUTH
This nice wine has a medium body with a fruity evolution. We feel black fruits and cut grass or plans. It has a supple evolution, with a round finish. This is a generous wine.

COMMENTS: Eye: this wine has a quite rich cherry red colour with brick red tint.

Mouth: This St emilion wine is rich in mouth, it has a medium aromatic body. It is not a very tannic wine and easy to drink. Perfect with French cheese...
