1991 Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon
(USA / California / Napa)
RATED: 02/21/2003
COLOR: Brick Red.
AROMA: Leather.
FLAVOR: Game. Horse Hide.
PROFILE: Tart. Unbalanced. Astringent Mouthfeel. Light Moderate Tannin. Medium Finish.
COMMENTS: Dead. Super tart and astringent with tounge-lashing flavors of old horse hide. Not my bottle, so aged improperly? No score.

2002 Bonny Doon Zinfandel - Cardinal Zin

COLOR: Red Purple.
AROMA: Prune. Eucalyptus.
FLAVOR: Smoky. Pepper. Prune.
PROFILE: Crisp Acidity. Balanced. Smooth Mouthfeel. Lean Body. Light Tannin. Medium Finish.
COMMENTS: I had pizza with this wine. I think it interfered with my ability to taste.

2001 Dynamite Cabernet Sauvignon
(USA / California / North Coast)
RATED: 07/05/2004
AROMA: Smoky. Oak.
FLAVOR: Vanilla. Oak. Plum. Raisin. Jam.
PROFILE: Balanced. Smooth Mouthfeel. Rich Body. Light Tannin. Medium Finish.
COMMENTS: Not an overly complex wine, but this is positively drinkable. It has all the components of a classic cabernet, with the dark fruit tones and smooth balance. Tannins are particularly light - perhaps a sign that it isn't really the kind of wine that will improve much with age. It is certainly very oaky (you can sense the sweeter, stronger (american oak) and has vanilla overtones as well. I like it. And it's cheap.

1994 Chateau Leoville Barton
(France / Bordeaux / St-Julien)
RATED: 02/01/2004
COMMENTS: (not blind): Had a glass of this wine from an one day open bottle and this was already rather oxidised in bouquet and tired, flat and no longer fresh in taste. This seems a bit too fast for me and means: Open the bottle and drink it fast. No score.

1998 Domaine Pegau - Reserve
(France / Rhone / Southern Rhone / Chateauneuf du Pape)
RATED: 09/01/2004
COMMENTS: Light ruby, brilliant, fat tears. Soft fat fruit in the nose, bit yoghurt, cool. Medium body, dark fruit, slightly chemical tongue coating. Medium finish. Damaged bottle?

Score: 50 + 3 for optic + 12 for bouquet + 14 for taste + 4 for overall = total score of 83. This seems unfair, so no score.
